Shrine status to Kausarnag war against Kashmiris: Shabbir

SRINAGAR, (SANA): The senior leader of Hurriyet Conference Jammu and Kashmir, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, has termed the plans of granting shrine status to Kausarnag in Kulgam district and handing it over to Hindu Shrine Board authorities as an open war against the Kashmiris.

Shabbir Ahmad Shah, who is under house arrest in Srinagar, in a statement said that the move would have very bad effect upon the environment as water of Kausarnag was free from pollution unlike Lidder River, which had been polluted by yatris by defecating in the peripheries of the river.

Senior Hurriyet leader said that the Modi-led Indian government was fomenting communalism in the Kashmir Valley and was exploiting its natural resources. “This is a moral crime and will have negative effects upon the environment,” he added.

Shabbir Shah strongly condemned the re-arrest of Hurriyet leader, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, who was again shifted to Baramulla sub-jail. He said that authorities could not break the resolve of Mushtaq-ul-Islam through such tactics.

He said that the people of Kashmir had been rendering sacrifices for the freedom movement and they would continue to do so till taking it to its logical conclusion.

He also called upon the people to observe complete shutdown tomorrow (Saturday) against the Kausarnag yatra.
