Pakistan to be proved as trade hub for region: Sardar Mehtab

KHUSHAL GARH, (SANA): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan has said that the present democratic government is paying exclusive attention to the country’s economic uplift by expanding and upgrading its highway network, and Pakistan will prove a Trade Hub for the region in the years to come, the Governor added.

He expressed these views while inaugurating the new Khushal Garh Bridge near Kohat. The Minister of State Abdul Hakeem Baloch, on this occasion, made the welcome address while Federal Minister for Textile Senator Abbas Khan also addressed the ceremony.

Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan said that the Khushal Garh Bridge will boost relations between the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will also improve trade, tourism, industry and agriculture of the region, he added.

The Governor said that recently new oil and gas reserves have been discovered in Kohat and this bridge will help transport crude oil to Attock refinery, and the region will not only progress economically but transport and travel facilities will also be improved for the people living on either side of the bridge.

The Governor said that when the present government took over, the country was confronted with many challenges but we began the journey to progress with a renewed vigor and determination, and with the Grace of Allah, we have achieved numerous successes. Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan said that the Development Vision of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif reflects rapid progress by the country in all sectors and we will overcome the problem of load-shedding with the construction of new dams.

The Governor congratulated the people of Kohat for the new Khushal Garh Bridge and said that it will also facilitate the adjoining tribal areas. He said that the Government is providing all basic facilities to the 10 lakh IDPs of North Waziristan Operation. He said that the people of this area still remember Indus Highway and Kohat Tunnel as a great gift from the previous Nawaz Sharif Governments.

Earlier, Minister of State Abdul Hakeem Baloch in his welcome address, thanked the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other distinguished guests and added that with the construction of new highways and motorways in the country, an economic revolution will be witnessed that will lift the living standard of the people. Mr. Abdul Hakeem Baloch said that this bridge will link the G.T Road (N-5) and Indus Highway N-55 and will thus revolutionize land contacts between different areas.

The Minister added that the bridge is two-lane but will be converted to four-lane when required, and it has been constructed with the assistance of MOLE Pakistan and OGDCL Pakistan, he added. On this occasion, the Minister for Textile Senator Abbas Khan said that this new bridge will ease traffic flow and will immensely benefit the people of Southern Districts and the Tribal Areas.

He also congratulated the Chairman NHA, its engineers and workers for completing the bridge in record time. At the start of the ceremony, the Governor Khyber Pakhtukhwa unveiled the inaugural plaque declaring the Khushal Garh Bridge operational for common traffic. On this occasion, a detailed briefing was also given to the Governor by Chairman NHA. Federal Secretary Communications Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad was also present on the occasion.
