Geelani continues to be under house detention 14th time in 2014

SRINAGAR, (SANA): Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani continues to be under house detention and this is 14th episode in 2014 when he was stopped by the police to perform his religious duties.

While as the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat general secretary Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Peer Saifullah, Ayaz Akbar, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Mohammad Yousuf Mujahid, Raja Mehraj-ud-din and Dr. Gh. Muhammad Ganai were also put under house arrest and were denied to offer the Friday congregational prayers.

On the appeal of Geelani, Friday people in all the districts of the state protested against declaring the Kousar Nag as the new Yatra destination. In a statement issued to press, hurriyat said that the presence of the police personals was increased today outside the residence of Geelani. Hurriyat said that during 6 years rule of Omer Abdullah, Geelani has spent 4 years under the house detention and during this period the administration have never officially explained the so long detention of Geelani and nor have Omer Abdullah ever answered that why is he so scared of the pro-freedom leader and what does he get from this. Hurriyat said that Geelani is a well-known and famous personality and he represents the strong ideology. Government should have faced such a political leader at political front but though Omer Abdullah doesn’t follow any type of ideology so he want to play safe by silencing the Geelani with illegal use of state power.

Hurriyat Conference strongly condemns these policies of state
government. While reiterating the call for complete shutdown on 2nd August, Saturday against the announcement of the government to declare the Kousar Nag as a new Yatra destination, Hurriyat Conference termed it the destructive and drastic step for the fragile environment and precious water resources of the Kashmir. Hurriyat said that this is a political decision and its only purpose is to divide the people of the Jammu & Kashmir on religious lines.

The government of India wants to eliminate the environment, identity, culture and other values of the state and they want to forcibly setup their own culture by launching cultural aggression on the Kashmir.

Hurriyat further said that the Kousar Nag is the source of fresh water located at a very high altitude and it doesn’t have any relation with Hinduism while as its name “Kousar” is decades old and it is related with a Arabic word “Houz-e-kousar” and the claim of Hindus is historically incorrect.

Hurriyat said that the communal minded forces are making different attempts to sabotage the ongoing freedom struggle of Kashmiries and for the accomplishment of their evil designs, some narrow minded Kashmiri Pandits are on the fore front of this campaign. Kashmiri Pandits should work for the unity and integrity of the Jammu and Kashmir state instead of becoming the helping hands of the oppressive Indian rule. While rejecting the change of route of the Yatra and continue it from Reasi route, Hurriyat Conference said that until the decision regarding this new Yatra destination is not revoked, we will continue our protest against it and if need arises we will launch a peoples movement against it.
