KARACHI, (SANA): President of Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh Senator Shahi Syed has said that his party will not support any attempt to topple a democratically elected government through any unconstitutional means or by show of street power.
Talking to media here on Sunday, Shahi Syed said all the political parties had street power, and if anyone conspired to dissolve the federal government, he might face the similar situation after coming into power.
He said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan should adopt legal and constitutional means, as undemocratic moves would not be in the interest of the country.
Shahi Syed said August 14 is a day of celebrations for every Pakistani when functions were held with the spirit of patriotism.
It would be inappropriate to create disorder by showing street power in the Federal Capital on the day, he added.
He said that the whole nation should demonstrate harmony on the Independence Day and celebrate the auspicious occasion in a befitting manner.
The ANP leader suggested to Imran Khan to take up his “grievances” in the parliament. If anyone had any reservations with politicians, judiciary or the media, a procedure for accountability had been laid down in the law and Constitution, which should be followed, he added.
Shahi Syed said the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) was a big political force of the country and had come into power with a heavy mandate in the general elections, so it had the right to complete its five-year tenure.
Imran Khan should wait for the next general elections and avoid agitation, he added.
