24 women of Bangladesh JI students’ organization arrested

DHAKA, (SANA): Bangladeshi police have arrested 24 female members of Jamat-e-Islami Student Wing (Chhatri Shangstha in Dhaka). The arrested females are all aged between 22 & 24 years.

They are all college and university students. Police alleged that the activists had a number of publications that contained “ant-government statements”.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Bangladeshi government has imposed ban on the Jamat-e-Islami Bangladesh , however, it is the first action so far taken against the students; organizations in which 24 women were arrested.

The spokesman of the Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan, while severely condemning the arrest of the members of students’ organizations by the Bangladeshi police on the direction of the government, said that the world organizations should take serous notice of the inhuman step of the Bangladeshi government.

He said that Jamat-e-Islami appeals to the world community to play their role for release of the arrested students as the ages of the arrested students are between 20 to 24 years.
