PM promises to tender resignation if NRO relief proved

ISLAMABAD (SANA): Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has promised on Thursday he will tender resignation if it is proved that his wife got relief under the National Reconciliation Ordinance.

Talking to media in green journalist award function, Gilani said efforts are underway to boost capabilities of law enforcement agencies. There was nothing like “Do More” mentioned in Obama’s letter which was delivered by James Jones. He said terrorists are now targeting public.

He reiterated that situation in the South Waziristan would return to normalzy soon adding that war against terror to go on despite lack of resources and relying less on foreign aid.

He said Pakistan was facing enormous environmental challenges and environmental degradation costs the national exchequer Rs. 365 billion every year which means that a developing country like Pakistan was losing one billion rupees every day only due to environmental problems.

“May it be air pollution, water contamination, land degradation, industrial or vehicular pollution, waste generation or poor disposal system, deforestation and above all the climate change. All these have posed serious challenges not only to the health of our people but also towards sustainable development,” he added.

He noted that the government was fully aware of that situation and was making concerted efforts to meet that challenge.
