Dr. Gilani denounces BJP leader statement on Kashmir

LONDON (SANA): Secretary general of Jammu Kashmir Council for Human Rights Dr. Nazir Gilani has lashed out at BJP leader and former Union Minister Professor Chaman Lal Gupta for his statement that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, legally as well constitutionally.

In a statement issued here the other day, Dr. Nazir Gilani said that India’s application regarding the future status of the Jammu and Kashmir was pending on the UN Security Council agenda since 1948.

He went on to say that the UN’s Security Council condemned in strongest possible words any use of violence and loss of life in the State.

Gilani also expressed sorrow over the killing of DIG of the BSF, O.P. Kanwar and casualties of other soldiers and officers in the booby traps.

“It is unacceptable that senior BJP leaders forget the loss of a generation in the State and majority of whom have been the Muslim youth. Indian State has the responsibility to ensure protection of lives and properties of the Kashmiri people,” he added.

As a responsible citizen of the state, the BJP leader should discharge his politically mandated duty with honesty and free of biasness irrespective towards every citizen, Dr. Gilani noted.

He went on to say that the BJP leader should remain mindful of his duties under article 4 and 48 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir.
