Govt summons emergency meeting to remove NWFP reservations

ISLAMABAD (SANA): The federal government has convened an emergency meeting in order to sort out the NWFP government’s reservations as the federal government made pledged to provide the NWFP Rs 110 billion on net hydel profit.

According to the well-placed sources the federal government called on an urgent party’s high ups meeting regarding not materializing the pledges, made by the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani that the NWFP would be given sums Rs 110 billion on net hydel profit.

Federal Finance Minister and Chairman National Finance Commission (NFC) Shaukat Tareen told in an interview that NWFP will be given its due share. Adding that the first installments of Rs 10 billion would be released very soon and the remaining amount would be given in annual installments.

“The NWFP has right on power-benefit and nobody could deprive it from its right” Shaukat Tareen admitted, said that as NFC chairman, he would play his due role in this regard.

It is worth mentioning here that the NWFP government warned the federal government to boycott the meeting of the National Finance Commission Award if its demands are not met.

“The federal government has pledged that it will give Rs 110 billion on hydel power generation, however, the pledge is not materialize so far” the NWFP government spokesperson lamented.
