Parts of country witness first winter rain

ISLAMABAD (SANA): Some parts of the country including AJK, central and northern parts of the Punjab province, and NWFP areas witnessed on Monday first rain of the winter season.

According to meteorologists, the rains followed by hailstorm lashed Lahore in the morning, bringing down the mercury significantly.

Rains have also been reported from Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Islamabad, Mandi Bahauddin and Hafizabad.

Weather pundits have predicted more rains over Rawalpindi division during next 24 hours while the wet spell is likely to fizzle out in Lahore and Gujranwala divisions by Monday night.

According to agriculture experts, the rains can prove a boon for the wheat crop presently being sown across the Punjab province.
