Gorbachev for US not to send extra troops to Afghanistan
NEW YORK (SANA): Former Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev has warned the United States against sending additional troops to Afghanistan, and called for renewed diplomacy for complete withdrawal from the war-ravaged country.
In an interview with an American TV Channel, the last leader of the Soviet Union said that his government also mulled increasing troops during its occupation of Afghanistan, but ultimately decided against it.
Mikhail Gorbachev acknowledged Pakistan’s role in addressing the issue of Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan.
