Tripartite talks only way forward to resolve Kashmir dispute: Yasin Malik

GANDERBAL (SANA): Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik said here the other day the bilateral talks are useless.

He called on the Indo-Pak leadership to initiate tripartite talks to resolve the Kashmir issue.

“Both the countries must ensure that true representatives of Kashmiris are given equal participation in the talks. Participation of Kashmiris is mandatory for the resolution of the issue as per the wishes and aspirations of the people. History stands testimony to the fact that bilateral talks till date have proved futile,” Malik told a gathering here.

He reiterated that three generations of Kashmiris had suffered due to this long pending dispute. “We appeal the Indo-Pak leadership to initiate tripartite dialogue in order to give Right of Self Determination to Kashmiris to save our fourth generation,” Malik said.

He said the international community had realized that peace couldn’t prevail in the subcontinent till the Kashmir issue was resolved. The president of United States Barak Obama after coming into power acknowledged the need to resolve this issue.

The Libyan president Colonel Gadafi, openly supported independent Kashmir in the United Nations and also paid rich tributes to Kashmiri martyrs for highlighting the Kashmir issue at the international level.”

Referring to the recent statement of the Union Home Minister, P Chidamabaram, Malik said, “He acknowledging that Kashmir is a unique case proves that India has realized that Kashmir is a dispute and needs to be resolved.”
