Nation not rejected Kerry-Lugar bill, says Assef
ISLAMABAD (SANA): Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Sardar Assef Ahmad Ali has said that the nation has not fully rejected the Kerry-Lugar bill but only concerned about few its clauses.
He said that the people of Pakistan have reservations over some clauses of the Kerry-Lugar bill, and the government will follow recommendations of the parliament and media in this regard.
He said that the country needs a huge amount of funding for development in Malakand division. He said the world community should not abandon Pakistan in this difficult hour.
To a question, he said that the opposition should demonstrate responsibility in connection with the Kerry-Lugar bill. The PPP will not compromise on issues relating to national security, he added.
Assef said that all the political parties in the country must join hands to fight terrorism and make collective efforts towards political stability as it was a pre-requisite for progress and prosperity.
