PM reassures decision on KLB to be taken after parliament debate

ISLAMABAD (SANA): Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani has held out assurances that decision with regarding the Kerry-Lugar bill will be taken after building consensus in the parliament by the public representatives.

Talking to newsmen in Islamabad today, he said that Parliament was a sovereign body and all decisions will be taken in greater national interest.

He said the nation and its representatives have got enough political maturity that was the reason they would resolve the matters with consensus.

PM said the political and military leadership of the country are united and its interest is their top priority, adding that we have the ability and vision to take all the institutions along and nobody needs to be worried about the situation.

PM has said the government is determined to build the communication infrastructure on modern lines for the progress of the country.

He said this after inaugurating the dualization project of Lehtrar road in Islamabad this afternoon which will be completed at a cost of 735 million rupees.

He said development of infrastructure is key for the development of any country as such projects generate economic as well as employment opportunities for the local people.

Referring to the development of Islamabad, the Prime Minister said efforts are underway to make it a model city as it is the symbol of the unity and integrity of the country. He said under the Master Plan of the capital, the city will be made more attractive for the investment and business activities. In this connection, there is a need to construct more I.T parks, trade centers, Hotels, tourist resorts and conference halls.

He lauded the capital development authority for initiating various development projects including road and said their timely completion inline with the international standards will bring a healthy change in the lives of the people.

Regarding the Lehtrar road Project, the Prime Minister said it will not only benefit the local population but also provide an alternative route to Murree and Azad Kashmir.

CDA Chairman Inayat Elahi briefed the Prime Minister about the ongoing and the upcoming development projects.
