Minster for 5% quota for minorities in civil services
ISLAMABAD (SANA): Federal Minister for Minorities Affairs, Shahbaz Bhatti has urged all the four provincial governments to allocate five percent quota in their provinces for minorities in the civil services as the federal government has already allocated five percent quota for minorities.
Federal Minister informed that Federal Government has issued a notification on 26th May 2009 in this regard and federal ministries, their subordinate offices, divisions and other offices under federal government are implementing government’s decision of five percent quota for minorities.
Provincial governments are recruiting civil servants on big scale; hence due to non implementation of federal government’s decision of 5% quota for minorities, they are deprived of this benefit.
Federal Minister urges to provincial governments to implement as last week, Ministry of Minorities Affairs has already dispatched letter to them on the subject.
Minorities while hailing the decision of the federal government stated that it is a historic step of government.
Federal Minister added that government’s decision to reserve five percent quota in civil services for the minorities should be observed strictly to eliminate poverty of minorities of Pakistan to make them more responsible citizen of the country.
