Parliamentary committee meeting today
ISLAMABAD (SANA): The meeting of the constitutional committee of the parliament for the proposed 18th constitutional amendment will be held today (Tuesday) in Islamabad.
All political parties including PPP, PML-N, ANP, MQM, PML-Q, and JUI-F have already submitted their proposed constitutional amendment drafts bills to the parliamentary constitutional committee.
Meanwhile, the committee has also received suggestions from the constitutional experts and representatives of the civil society who have also submitted their suggestions for the proposed 18th amendment.
The meeting of the committee will be held at parliament house and it would be chaired by Senator Raza Rabbani Chairman of the Constitutional Committee.
All the political parties have agreed to repeal 58-2b, more provincial autonomy to provinces and balance of power between all the institutions of the state.
PML-Q leaders Senator Wasim Sajjad and Senator Salim Saifullah Khan submitted their proposed 18th amendment draft in the parliament and informed the committee about their submission of proposed draft.
PML-N also submitted the bill for the repeal of 17th amendment and also submitted proposed 19th amendment bill which advocates more provincial autonomy to the provinces meanwhile, ANP raised objections against the PML-N proposed bill.
Awami National Party with the provincial autonomy stressed on the need to give more authority to the Senate and suggested that all important appointments in army, judiciary and other key posts should be made through Senate of Pakistan.
The committee will review the proposed bills of the political parties in its meeting scheduled to be held today (Tuesday).
