New judicial Policy to be implemented in letter, spirit: PCJ
ISLAMABAD (SANA): Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said the new judicial policy will be implemented in letter and spirit to ensure speedy justice to the people at grass roots level.
In his opening remarks at the meeting of the National Judicial Policy Making committee in Islamabad on Saturday, he said the judiciary will dispense justice to the people under the constitution without any favour and fear.
The Chief Justice said the new judicial policy is a first step towards the provision of expeditious justice to the people and more such steps will be taken to restore people’s confidence on the judicial system.
Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry practical steps will be made for the implementation of the new policy and action will be taken against those not adhering to it. He said incentives will also be given to the honest and dedicated judicial officials.
The meeting will evolve a mechanism for the implementation of the newly announced Judicial Policy which has been formulated to clear the backlog of cases at the superior and subordinate judiciary.
It will also consider a proposal for the convening of a conference in Islamabad to enlighten the judicial officials and senior police officials about the salient features of the new policy. Budget of the superior and lower courts and ways and means to improve conditions in Jails will also come under discussion during the meeting.
Chief Justices of the Federal Shariat Court and High courts are attending the meeting.
