President vows to rehabilitate IDPs
SWABI (SANA): President Asif Ali Zardari has said that the government realizes the troubles of internally displaced persons of Malakand division, assuring them that they would be rehabilitated “better than before”.
Addressing the IDPs during his visit to Swabi’s Shah Mansoor Relief Camp on Friday, President asked the people of the affected areas to keep trust in Allah, Pakistani nation and the government, saying that the whole nation is standing with them in these hours of need.
“I am here to share your sufferings and problems,” the President said and added the entire nation stands by them.
The President, who earlier visited various sections of the camp and distributed gifts amongst the children and relief goods amongst the people, said the whole nation stands by the brethren from the areas affected by conflict.
The President directed that best possible facilities be provided to the people so as to mitigate their problems after being forced out of their homes. He said the entire government machinery was geared to provide all possible assistance to the affected people.
He said a model camp will be set up at the Jalozai and the injured and handicapped would be provided wheel chairs and other facilities.
He urged the affectees to keep up their spirits and promised that the government will try to provide them better facilities than they had, before the operation began.
He urged them to support the government and the Pakistan Army in its efforts to eliminate extremists.
“The nation stands by you, keep faith in Allah, in your Government and the Army, you are our brothers and sisters and will try our level best to take good care of you,” the President said.
Zardari said he was in a position to understand their pain as he himself was a victim of terrorism and said the day when they would return, was not far.
The President, accompanied by Minister for Information Qamar Zaman Kaira and Interior Minister Rehman Malik, soon after his return from Karachi, went to the camp that houses the refugees from Swat, Malakand and adjoining areas, following the military operation against extremists and terrorists.
The President was received by NWFP Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti and Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed Chairman of Special Support Group and was informed about the facilities being extended to the IDPs.
The President went around various sections of the camp and saw the food, medical and residential facilities being extended to the people.
The camp houses 2200 camps with 1450 families besides over a thousand children aged 1 to 5 years.
