CJP constitutes special bench on low price sale of state land
ISLAMABAD (SANA): Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has constituted three-member special bench to hear the Suo Moto case on Thursday regarding the sale of state land on low price by Evacuee Trust Property Board published in a newspaper on May 08.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, it said that the bench to be CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry while two other judges would be Justice Tassadaq Hussain Jilani and Justice Ghulam Rubbani.
The bench would start its hearing on Thursday (today). The action was taken on a note of Justice Tassadaq Hussain Jilani, who read a news item published in a newspaper on the said date. The news item revealed that under Supreme Court Order, public property worth billions is likely to be sold out at a price fixed by Sindh High Court in 1988 whereas in the meanwhile prices have escalated manifold.
Accordingly the CJP ordered the fixation of case before a three member Bench headed by him on Thursday.
CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry further directed to issue notices to Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board to appear in person and all other concerned on said date in the SC.
