PM for Pak-Saudi Chamber of Commerce interaction
ISLAMABAD (SANA): Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has called for heightened and effective interaction between the Chambers of Commerce of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to facilitate enhanced direct trade between the two countries.
He stated that airlines of both the countries would soon start international flights from Sialkot and Multan and be used for the export of sports goods, medical and dental equipments and mangoes respectively to Saudi Arabia.
The Prime Minister said this while in a meeting with the outgoing Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Ali S. Awadh Aseeri who paid a farewell call on him at the PM’s House this afternoon.
He informed the Ambassador that in the new education policy to be announced soon special emphasis was being placed on the setting up the vocational institutions to cater for specific manpower requirements of countries like Saudi Arabia. He invited Saudi private sector to invest in vocational educational institutions in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister also informed the Saudi Ambassador that a task force was being formed consisting of all the stakeholder ministries and departments of the government of Pakistan for the formulation of a comprehensive Haj Policy with the view to provide better facilities to Hujjaj. He called for increased quota of Hujjaj for Pakistan from the Saudi government.
He said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have always stood by each other and have an abiding interest in each other’s progress and prosperity. The people and the government of Pakistan have great love and affection for the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia, he added. He said the two countries enjoy strategic partnership and enjoy unanimity of views on most global and regional issues.
The Prime Minister asked the Ambassador to convey his profound regards to his Majesty, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and said that he and his government were grateful for his Majesty’s sincere and kind sentiments for Pakistan.
The Ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for government of Pakistan’s support in making his stay in Islamabad comfortable and enjoyable.
He said that he is returning to his country with sweet memories which he would always cherish. He said he considers Pakistan as his second home.
