Federal Cabinet declares Sharifs brothers as regrettable
ISLAMABAD (SANA): Federal Cabinet declared the decision to disqualify the Sharif brothers as regrettable, but according to the law.
A special meeting of the Federal Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at the PM’s Secretariat on Friday.
During the meeting the Prime Minister said he wanted to take the Cabinet into confidence about the political events taking place since the disqualification of Mian Nawaz Sharif and former Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif.
The Cabinet also agreed that the imposition of Governor’s rule in Punjab was an option of the last resort, and the Proclamation Order was only issued after the constitutional and administrative void in Punjab in view of the judgment of the Supreme Court.
To move forward according to democratic norms, the Cabinet decided to move a summary for the President’s approval to call the National Assembly session on 28th February at 4:00 p.m.
The Cabinet unanimously condemned the desecration of the memorial of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto at Rawalpindi by some PML (N) activists. The burning and destruction of public property by PML (N) workers at different places was also condemned.
It called upon all the political workers to keep their cool and refrain from destruction, looting and burning of public property.
It was noted that the Pakistan Peoples Party believes in democratic principles and would not like its workers to resort to any kind of violence.
The Cabinet strongly condemned the indecent language used by PML (N) leaders and activists against President Asif Ali Zardari. It was also observed that the President was the symbol of the Federation and deserved due respect.
