Indian army operation underway against terrorists in Mumbai
NEW DHELI (SANA): A massive army operation was underway to flush out terrorists from three hotels who have taken up the positions on the roof top of the hotels in Mumbai.
The terrorists were still holding some people hostages including some foreigners after killing more than one hundred people and wounding scores of others.
The army took over the control of Mumbai city and besieged three hotels.
Sounds of firing were still coming out of the hotels.
According to Indian media, a little known group the Deccan Mujahideen claimed responsibility for the assaults on the hotels.
The blasts occurred at different places including three hotels, a Railway Station and a hospital.
According to reports, some unknown gunmen armed with automatic weapons and hand grenades entered a hotel and resorted to indiscriminate firing and explosions.
Police say as many as ten militants were still holed up in the hotels.
All business centers and governments offices, educational institutions were closed in the city. The Mumbai Stock Exchange was also closed and all incoming and outgoing flights from Mumbai were suspended.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was chairing an emergency Cabinet session in New Delhi to review the situation.
